A Brief Review of the Rajapaksa Dynasty
In 2015 I wrote an article about the Siloviki and Russia and the effect of sanctions. One example I gave was the role of the Rajapaksa dynasty of Sri Lanka and the titanium industry. Now that the renaissance of Rajapaksa rule has been rolled back in Sri lanka I thought it might be of interest to know some of the background.

France’s Celebration of the End of the War In Europe
The world is getting ready to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the Victory in Europe Day; the day commemorating the surrender of Germany and the end of hostilities in the European theatre. On the 7th of May 1945 General Alfred Jodl signed the unconditional surrender terms at Rheims ending Germany's participation in the war. Surrender took effect the next day.

I have been lucky enough to have led a somewhat unusual life. Occasionally, I have been part of events which have never made it into mass circulation and awareness. These have not been important events but might be sufficiently interesting to students of the realities of international relations as they reveal the more personal interactions behind the politics.
