As usual the fog of war is what it is. This just came through:

The General Staff denied its information about the withdrawal of Russian army units from Novaya Kakhovka

Information about the alleged withdrawal of the enemy from this settlement was made public as a result of incorrect use of available data. However, we will definitely release Nova Kakhovka as well, — declared the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Realize this is coming with denials and confusing information, including what looks like video of Russians using long range artillery on Ukrainian positions.

This is breaking, but it looks like Ukraine has launched an offensive to cross the Dnieper. This town is likely a starting point on an offensive towards Melitopol, or at least the establishment of a bridgehead across the river.

According to the Ukrainian General Staff as reported by Ukrainian media:

All units of Russians left Novaya Kakhovka “As of March 22, 2023, all units of the occupier’s army that were stationed in Novaya Kakhovka, Kherson region, had left the city. This was preceded bypassing the nearest dwellings of the local population for the purpose of profit,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a statement.
This was quickly followed by denial in Z xhannels, and I am quoting Grey Zone which is also part of a pattern. Whenter Ukraine starts offensives, this denial comes early, before they admit that perhaps it happened.

The Information disseminated by the Ukrainian command, as well as information resources of the enemy, that Russian military units left Novaya Kakhovka (Kherson region) is not true. At least for now.
For the moment, this is all we know, but over the last three weeks there have been repeated hits by Ukrainian artillery in Melitoopol and Marioupol, as in they were shapping the battlefield. If this is the case, the offensive is probablyy on, and this is a bridge head.

I will post more as we know more, but I expect the fog of war to fall hard on this. So I will update as things emerge, but it will take a while to know exacltly what is going on. My guess, is that they are going to try to cut the Russian group in two, with the Kherson group cut completely from supply if they can accomplish that.
